UK Lab Chairs supplies laboratory seating to pharmaceutical, biotech and life-science facilities across the UK, including Moderna and Bristol Myers Squibb. Whether you're fitting out a first lab, adding benches as the team grows, or refitting a controlled environment, this page tells you which seating fits each area — or send us your bench list and we'll quote the same day.

What pharma and biotech environments need from seating

Life-science facilities split into zones, and each zone has its own seating rules. General wet labs and analytical areas need wipe-clean, chemical-tolerant seats — polyurethane or vinyl rather than fabric, so spills and cleaning agents don't degrade the seat. Controlled and classified areas need cleanroom-rated seating with sealed surfaces that don't shed particles. Write-up areas, offices and QC data stations take standard desk-height chairs. Specifying by zone, rather than one chair everywhere, is what keeps both the auditors and the finance team happy.

Every UK Lab Chairs chair is fitted with a 20 stone (127 kg) rated gas strut as standard and carries a 5-year guarantee against normal wear and tear.

Cleanrooms and controlled environments

Classified areas need dedicated cleanroom seating — sealed, easy-decontamination construction designed not to shed. See our cleanroom chair range.

Wet labs and analytical benches

For standard 900 mm lab benches, specify wipe-clean seats: the Budget PU Bench-Height Lab Chair (A12), the Deluxe PU Bench-Height Lab Chair (001), or the Upholstered Bench-Height Lab Chair (005) with the vinyl seat option — over 2,265 of the 005 are in daily use across UK labs. Where a backrest isn't needed, the High-Level Polyurethane Lab Stool (008) tucks under the bench.

Write-up areas and QC desks

Seated desks at 720–750 mm take a desk-height chair: the Budget PU Desk-Height Lab Chair (A13), Deluxe PU Desk-Height Lab Chair (002) or Upholstered Desk-Height Lab Chair (006). Unsure which height class you need? Use our lab chair height guide.

Instrument rooms and shared stations

Where staff move between standing instruments and perching, the Sit-Stand Polyurethane Lab Stool (010) covers mixed-height work without a full chair at every position.

Frequently asked questions

What seating is suitable for a cleanroom?

Dedicated cleanroom chairs with sealed, non-shedding construction designed for easy decontamination. Standard upholstered lab chairs are not suitable for classified areas because fabric sheds particles. UK Lab Chairs supplies a dedicated cleanroom range alongside standard lab seating, so mixed facilities can order both on one purchase order.

Which seat material is best for a wet lab?

Polyurethane (PU) or vinyl. Both wipe clean and tolerate laboratory cleaning agents and spills. Fabric seats are more comfortable for long seated work but belong in write-up areas and offices rather than at the wet bench.

Do you supply both cleanroom and standard lab areas on one order?

Yes. Cleanroom, ESD, bench, desk and stool seating can be mixed on a single order with one VAT invoice — the usual approach for full-facility fit-outs.

Do you accept purchase orders from pharma and biotech companies?

Yes. Purchase orders are accepted from registered businesses, with a VAT invoice supplied. On some finance systems UK Lab Chairs appears as Mark Finn Lab Furniture or Lab Tables.
